Leading a healthy lifestyle is easier than what it sometimes seems to be. The main secret to it is to start. Once you’ll start it soon enough will grow on you as you’ll start to enjoy its many benefits. But that’s exactly the problem for many of us – to start, right? “Not today, maybe tomorrow… how about next week – well, I think it’s too busy… I don’t feel so good to start today… maybe… we’ll see…” And so, on and on it goes and before you know it, years go by without you doing anything to improve your health. I’ve been there, trust me, and I can truly relate to that, but it is up to you to say enough is enough and start doing something good for yourself. And if you hear what I’m saying, here’s few tips that will encourage you to start working out and get that healthy lifestyle on the going.
Stop with the Excuses
We all have it and we’ve all heard it before. It is not your career’s fault and neither the fact that you work long hours. It is not because you have children to take care of and it is not because you have too many responsibilities. So stop making excuses for yourself, because you know that once you’ll set your mind to it – no one will be able to stop you. Devote yourself to taking that step, and just take it.
Set the Time for Exercising
Set ahead a schedule for exercising. You can start with one or two practices per week, but set a constant time on an hour that is comfortable for you and don’t change it. Setting a time for exercising that defined only for it will encourage you to keep up with it. For example, say you start with one hour, each Tuesday at 19:00 you know that this hour is for working out only, and once you’ll complete it you’re done for that week – set it in your mind, and see how easy it will be from week to week to keep up with it and even strive for more in time.
Choose Your Exercising
There are so many different workouts’ types you can choose from – gym, bicycle, indoor cycling, running, swimming, soccer, volleyball, long walks, kickboxing, etc. You can exercise by yourself, with a partner or in a group. Choose something you can imagine yourself doing, something you’ve always wanted to do or something you wish to prove to yourself that you can do – and trust me, you can! You can also choose a type of workout that will answer your goals – whether it is to get in shape, to strengthen your body and mind, to meet more friends and exercising partners, and so on – just choose what is right for you.
Join a Training Group or Team
If you find it too hard for you to start on your own, there are plenty of training groups and teams which you can join. Each group may have different characteristics that defined its members – age, level of fitness, gender, goals, etc. – find a group that suit for you and go for it.
Now, some of us feel embraced to join a group, especially at the beginning because you feel out of shape and that your level is just too low, but! Everyone that practice in a group started somewhere – more people than you thing started where you’re about to start. Of course you shouldn’t start right away with the most advanced team – join a group that suit your current abilities (and a little more – because you can do more than you think).
Still feel hesitated to join a group? Ok. Find a partner to exercise with. It can be your life partner, it can be a best friend, it can be a brother or sister, daughter or father, it can be a co-worker, and even your neighbor. Just find one person that is in more or less state as you and start working out together.
One Last Tip
The last tip for now, and it is a very important one – be consistent! The longer strike you’ll build the easier it will become to keep going with it. Don’t give up, don’t make excuses – do it for yourself.
