It is common to believe that summer is the most dangerous season for our skin and it’s true alright. The problem is, that while you remember to protect your skin during summertime, as almost each fashion or skin care related article urge you to do, a lot of us neglect our skin care during winter, mistaking the cold season to be skin-friendly. But it’s not. Here are 4 tips to help you protect your skin through winter.
Stay Hydrated
Naturally, we don’t feel the need to drink during winter as often as we feel it on summer. And that is why a lot of people suffer from dry skin during winter. Reminding yourselves and loved ones to drink during winter’s days will prevent it from happening to you. The key is to drink enough water and avoid damages due to lacking of water.
Pay Attention to What You Eat
In winter we tend to make worse decisions than on summer regarding our foods. We choose warm dishes, full of fat, and comfort food, that we expect to warm us up. So, turn on the heating and make smart choices about your nutrition. Unhealthy food will harm not only your skin but your health as well, so do it for your well-being if not for your skin care.
Apply Sunscreen
Sunscreen during winter? Yes, yes, yes! You know those days during winter, in which the sun is shining but it is still very cold? The direct sunlight and its UV lights can still cause damage to our skin, regardless to whether it is warm or cold outside. Direct sunlight on our skin should be limited and you can do so by applying sunscreen to ensure your skin care and protection.
Continue Your Skin Care Routine
Some of us neglect their skin care routine during winter coldest days – it is cold to apply that skin moisturizer to the face and neck, early in the morning or late at night – is only one excuse we use. But you know what? We invest so much on our skin care throughout the year, and neglecting it now will result in dry skin and even irritated, as the extreme cold is drying our skin almost as much as the heat does.
